Daysail from Itchenor to Dell Quay – probably DQSC for lunch (we have been invited).
A good opportunity for a shakedown sail in the tidal estuary. If the wind is strong enough and the weather nice enough we’ll sail back via Pilsey or East Head, we just need to know there will be wind to blow us home over the Spring ebb.
Launch from Lymington and cruise the Western Solent inside the tidal gate at Keyhaven. Possible places to visit, depending on the wind strength and direction include Newton Creek, Yarmouth or Hurst Castle.
Combined cruiser and dinghy rally.
Cruisers will leave POG and cruise to Osborne Bay and anchor. Dinghies will launch Stokes Bay and join the cruisers on-board for lunch.
3 day camp at Cobnor.
Possible Cruiser and Dinghy rally in Chichester Harbour on Saturday.
Possible Round Hayling sail on Sunday.
Cruiser Rally for 3 days, sailing first to Chichester Harbour (possible rendezvous with the Dinghy Fleet) then to the Western Solent on Sunday and return to Portsmouth on Monday.
Stokes Bay to Wootton Creek – a straightforward blast across the Solent and back (unless it is made more interesting with a trip up wind and tide first).
To begin the celebrations of Cody Sailing Club’s 70th year, we plan to hold a celebration of the club with a Beach Day, regatta with short races, a “Chicken Run” (1) , with a lunchtime BBQ opportunity on the beach, and prospective members invited to join in the fun.
This is a combined Cruiser and Dinghy event, and cruisers will provide the Committee Boat for starts and finishes, and there may be trips out to them for members and visitors from the shore.
Taster dinghy sailing will be available during the day.
(1) The “Chicken Run” is the name of a race all Cody members who go to Summer Camp will recognise, and is a special race where the objective is to cross the line at the end of the racing at exactly the correct moment, nearest to the second wins. There are other rules that make it not as easy as this description makes is sound).
